Free public transport this festive season


The following festive season fare cuts and specials apply in Australia over the festive season according to 7News and Stuff:

In Australia, Victorian and Sydney's light rail line commuters will be able to take public transport for free on select days.

Trains, trams, buses and V/Line services will be free for 24 hours from 03h00 on Christmas Day until 03h00 on Boxing Day. Services will also be free for 12 hours from 18h00 on New Year's Eve, with trains every eight to ten minutes until 01h45.

On the launch weekend of Sydney's light rail line from Circular Quay to Randwick has launched, travellers can expect free fares with trams due to carry passengers from 11h00 on Saturday.

In New Zealand, Auckland Transport announced that AT HOP ferry users will get a single zone train or bus fare free by April 2020.

It will be provided for Bayswater, Beach Haven, Birkenhead, Gulf Harbour, Half Moon Bay, Hobsonville, Pine Harbour and West Harbour ferry services.
