New electric railway planned for east Europe

eTNW reports that a high-speed electric rail network, Rail Baltica, is part of the multimodal Ülemiste terminal planned for development in Tallinn, Estonia.

The 870km electrified Rail Baltica will be the first fast railway connection in the Baltic States, connecting Estonia to Central and Western Europe and neighbouring countries.

The Ülemiste terminal will be the starting point of the European high-speed rail network and is expected to connect Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius.

The Rail Baltica route should be completed by the second quarter of 2021.
