The snow storm made travel difficult and forced officials to close down schools in and around New York.
The New York Times reports that a storm delivering up to 45cm of snow to parts of New York State, Connecticut and New Jersey landed in the region on Sunday, December 1, and is expected to continue through Monday night.
New York City officials warned that the storm would affect commuting on Monday.
Travellers flying from Newark, La Guardia and John F. Kennedy airports can expect delays of between one and two and a half hours.
