Tropical cyclone may impact Australia by midweek

An out-of-season tropical cyclone that formed in the Coral Sea could affect Australia this week, reports Accuweather.

Tropical Cyclone Ann formed on Sunday across the Coral Sea. Ann is expected to track to the west and could affect northern Queensland around the middle of the week.

After Tuesday, some weakening is expected, though the amount of weakening remains unclear.

Ann is expected to reach the east coast of the Cape York Peninsula, possibly north of Cairns, on Tuesday night or Wednesday.

Ann is expected to have the intensity of a Category 1 tropical cyclone.
