Customs staff strike in New Jersey

Staff at New Jersey's borders are preparing for the planned Customs and Immigration strike action due to take place throughout the day on Monday, says ITV.

The States say an enhanced police presence as well as other contingencies will be put in place to ensure some Customs cover at both Jersey Airport and Jersey Harbour.

Ports of Jersey say no scheduled air services to or from the island will be affected and passengers are being told not to change or cancel their original travel plans.

However, the Condor Ferries St Malo connection will be affected.

Monday's two high speed departures from St Malo to Jersey (08h00 and 12h30) will be combined into one sailing at 11h50 and re-routed via Guernsey.

Condor says this is to allow passengers to arrive in Jersey after clearing customs in St Peter Port.

The Condor Liberation will then operate from Jersey to St Malo, St Malo to Guernsey, Guernsey to Jersey, Jersey to Guernsey and then onto Poole.

The company says no other crossings will be affected and that it is working with Ports of Jersey to minimise disruption.
