Airport workers set strikes

Firefighters, bird control staff, engineers and drivers at Liverpool John Lennon Airport are to go on strike because of a pay dispute, according to BBC.

About 80 members of the GMB union will walk out at 19h00 on Thursday, August 23, and not return to work until 07h00 on Saturday, August 25.

Airport bosses claimed the strike would not affect passengers, but union bosses say the strike will disrupt flight operations.

A further 12-hour walkout is also scheduled for September 3.

The airport directly employs 258 employees.
