The Bali Tourism Board have said that despite Mount Agung showing increased volcanic activity, 98% of the tourist attractions on the island remain safe to visit and will continue to do so even in the event of an eruption.
If the volcano were to erupt, only a few of Balis tourist attractions - Besakih, Tulamben, and Tirta Gangga - would be affected.
Kuta, Ubud, Nusa Dua, and Sanur are located far from Mount Agung. Authorities believe that areas beyond 12km from Mount Agung’s crater remains safe.
If Mount Agung erupts, the tourism board will provide various facilities to tourists, including free accommodation and transportation to the airport.
