ADVITO vice president, Matthew Patterson, has the following recommendations for corporates wishing to control their air spend better:
- Acquire spend visibility into all areas of air spend, be it ancillaries, upgrades, base fare versus taxes and surcharges, or anything else that drives true total air spend cost. Data consolidation is critically important.
- Manage your programme proactively. Don’t ‘source it and forget it’. Be proactive about how you are performing to goals and where you may need to negotiate further with suppliers (or maybe even bring in new suppliers). Be proactive in your communication to travellers and guide them to make the buying decisions you want them to make.
- Assess your travel policy to ensure your policies are best in class. A dynamic policy is an extremely useful tool for driving compliance and savings, not to mention duty of care.
