Tsogo Mozambique hotels see corporate surge

Tsogo Sun is seeing returns from its hotels investments in Mozambique, with SA corporates often preferring to stay at a recognisable brand when visiting the country.

Bruce Chapman, gm of the Southern Sun and StayEasy Maputo, says: “The Southern Sun recently increased its capacity to 269 rooms. It is the capital’s choice of location for conferencing, business and leisure visitors.”

He adds that earlier this year, the brand opened the StayEasy Maputo atop the new Baía Mall overlooking the Maputo Bay on the Avenida Marginal. “This has been designed for more independent travellers who prefer to experience the city independently, without the executive comforts of the Southern Sun, but at a fraction of the price.” Rates at the StayEasy Maputo include high-speed WiFi and breakfast. “For lunch and dinner, guests dine out at either the nearby classics: Costa do Sol or the fish market, or in any one of the many new restaurants beneath their feed in the Baía Mall.”

Further north, Tsogo manages the Tete Ferry Sun in the mining and logistics hub of Tete. This comprises 100 chalets, situated on the banks of the Zambezi River. Chapman says this property primarily caters to long-term business guests.
