Water saving under the spotlight at Lagoon Beach
6 Apr 2018 - by Sue van Winsen
Lagoon Beach Hotel in Cape Town has introduced a number of water-saving initiatives to ensure that conference delegates and hotel guests have peace of mind amidst the city’s severe drought.
The property bottles its own water, which is essentially collected from the air through an atmospheric water generator. It also has a new borehole, and water-saving aerators have been installed on all bathroom taps, saving between 40% and 60% of the normal consumption. The system has also been introduced in the bathrooms in the conferencing area and menus have been adapted to include water-saving cooking processes.
In other news, Lagoon Beach has also introduced a new conference room, called the ‘Rainbow Room’. Currently, it is being used as a children’s play area, but it can be converted into a breakaway room for conferencing groups as well.
Lagoon Beach’s winter conferencing rates have been released, applicable from April to September 2018. The full-day rate starts from R445pp and includes main venue conference hire; arrival, mid-morning and mid-afternoon tea, coffee and snacks; lunch with beverage; parking; notepad and pens; mineral water; uncapped WiFi and equipment. Half-day rates start from R405pp with all the same inclusions as the full-day package with the exception of mid-afternoon tea and snacks, and a half-day rate without lunch starts from R220pp.
