8 Dec 2017 - by Kate Nathan
TAM’s Kate Nathan rounds up five attractive conference venues, all available through tour operator, AfricaStay.
Three conference rooms provide conferencing for up to 120 in a quiet corner of this property. Nine restaurants and bars provide plenty of options when it comes to relaxation time.
Well-known for its conferencing facility, this property offers a conference room for a maximum of 220 delegates. The centre provides full- or half-day conferencing packages, plus gala and themed dinners and an entertainment programme. The setting is exceptional, overlooking the sapphire Indian Ocean.
Park Hyatt Zanzibar offers more than 160 sqm of flexible meeting venues, suitable for all purposes – from discreet board meetings and small, intimate social occasions to elegant cocktail receptions, sophisticated weddings and state functions. A team of events specialists are on call. All venues are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and broadband connectivity. The hotel is acknowledged for its exceptional cuisine, which will complement any event very well.
Sea Cliff has three meeting rooms with seating for 10 to 120 delegates in a variety of configurations, ideal for conferences, board meetings and incentive groups.
They are fully equipped with data projectors, roaming and desktop microphones, built-in speakers, portable screens, whiteboards and PA systems, as well as a translation system. Free WiFi is available in all areas and an IT technician is on standby. It also has a private boma overlooking the ocean for 200 guests, as well as breakaway rooms and dining options such as barbecues on the beach and private cocktail parties on the jetty.
The main conference room of 250sqm, with natural light, can hold up to 200 delegates, theatre style. The African House building has four rooms. Two hold 50 delegates each, theatre style, and have breakout rooms. Two hold a round table, seating up to 10 people. The hotel also has an outdoor amphitheatre. Melia says it will organise different dinners in great locations. One of these is Gabi Beach, the hotel’s own white-sand beach venue 1km away. A beach barbecue is served, a good local band supplies great music and delegates will dance the night away under the stars. Every Monday, all guests at the hotel are transported to the Gabi Beach barbecue.
