Cathay Pacific reports fall in pax amid protests

Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon have shown decreases of 11% in the number of passengers carried in August compared with the same month in 2018, amid protests in Hong Kong that have been ongoing since June.

The airline says it plans to make ‘capacity realignments’.

Passenger load factors and inbound Hong Kong passenger traffic decreased by 7,2% and 38% respectively. The airline says it expects September to be equally difficult.

Cathay Pacific says despite the challenges it faces, it remains optimistic and plans to soon launch new first- and business-class cabin products, as well as new dining options in economy class.
