Japan typhoon causes flight delays, cancellations

As typhoon Faxai passed through Japan, it resulted in the cancellation of over 100 flights and left thousands of passengers stranded at the airport, reports CNN.

More than 13 000 people were stranded at Narita International Airport due to highways being blocked. Two railways to the city centre were shut down but reopened on the morning of September 10.

Train services have gradually resumed, however there are still delays.

Narita Airport in Tokyo has apologised to passengers, saying that “due to the traffic trouble by the typhoon last night (September 9), there are some delays or cancellations”.

According to AccuWeather, the typhoon is expected to move away from Japan and into the Western Pacific during the next day.
