Qatar makes travel easier for South Africans

Qatar has waived visa requirements for South Africans, according to Home Affairs Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi.

The Minister says the decision will make it easier for South Africans to attend the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

This comes after Home Affairs waived visa requirements for seven countries during the Budget Vote speech in July, four of which can travel to South Africa visa free from August 15.

“We took this decision unilaterally but we are engaging these countries to see how they can relax entry requirements for our citizens,” he adds.

Meanwhile, the department will implement visa waivers for Ghana, Cuba and Principe and Sao Tome after negotiations with these countries have been concluded.
