Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport and American Airlines have announced plans to develop a sixth terminal.
The plans call for DFW to invest up to $3,5bn (R50bn) in terminal improvements, including the construction of Terminal F and enhancements to Terminal C. The identified site south of Terminal D provides flexibility for the number of gates for the new terminal, projected to be up to 24.
Terminal C is one of the airport’s original terminals, which opened in 1974, and plans are to improve the customer experience, bringing it in line with recently renovated Terminals A, B and E. The renovations included redesigned check-in areas, larger security checkpoints, expanded concessions spaces, and improved lighting and flooring.
American has recently opened its Flagship Lounge at Terminal D as well as completing renovations to the Admirals Club Lounge.
