Qatar unveils new seat

Qatar Airways’ new economy-class seat, which is said to enhance customers’ flying experience, was revealed at ITB Berlin on March 6.

Features of the new seat include

  • 19-degree recline
  • Added leg-room with ‘additional knee and shin clearance’.
  • New adjustable, lightweight headrest.
  • Dual trays for more table space during flights.
  • USB Type C with high power fast charging capabilities.
  • Enhanced connectivity with faster WiFi.

The new seat will debut on the A321 neo, the first of which will be delivered later this year, and will eventually roll out to its other aircraft. This is estimated to only happen in the next five to eight years.

Other developments

During the press briefing, the airline also introduced its new in-flight dining experience, Quisine, which will feature new menu items, larger appetisers, main courses and desserts.

Qatar Airways further announced the addition of new destinations during the course of 2019, launching services to, Davao, Philippines; Izmir, Turkey; Langkawi, Malaysia; Lisbon, Portugal; Malta; Mogadishu, Somalia; and Rabat, Morocco.
