Book direct on Star Alliance website

Star Alliance and travel search engine Skyscanner have partnered, allowing travellers to search for flights, view airfares and book them directly with member airlines while on the Star Alliance website.

This feature makes use of Skyscanner’s fare search, which links directly with alliance member carriers’ websites for purchases. Jeremy Drury, director Digital and e-services for Star Alliance, says: “Anything that is bookable on our member airlines’ websites can now be reached through our site.”

The Star Alliance website complements the individual websites of its 28 member airlines, and is functional in nine languages. The website has also undergone upgrades, with a new layout that provides shorter paths to its most popular features, across both desktop and mobile devices.

The new website search capability is one of Star Alliance’s several digital initiatives, which include services such as interline baggage tracking and seat assignment at the time of reservation, lounge and Gold Track security locations, and frequent flyer membership number validation.

Star Alliance offers more than 18 800 daily flights to over 1 300 airports, spread over 193 countries. This gives it coverage of over 98% of the world, according to the Alliance.
