Zimbabwe: Protests expected across the country
10 Oct 2018 - by
Labour federation, the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions, has reportedly called for a nationwide protest for Thursday, October 10, according to News24.
This follows the country’s finance minister, Mthuli Ncube, who announced a 2% tax on electronic money transfers last week.
Last Friday, Ncube reviewed the tax, exempting transactions below $10 (R146) and capping it at $10 000 (R146 000)
Police have said that all protests will be stopped in light of the current cholera outbreak.
Travellers are advised to avoid all public demonstrations.
