Popular Thai beach closed indefinitely

Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi Leh island, Thailand, has been closed to tourists indefinitely.
The destination, made famous by the 2000 Leonardo DiCaprio film, The Beach, was due to reopen this month following a four-month tourist ban implemented in June.
However, on Tuesday, Thailand's Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) announced that the bay would remain closed indefinitely.
According to the DNP's announcement, the marine ecosystem requires more time to recover. "The DNP will extend the closure from October onward until natural resources return to normal."
