UK: Major tram route to close for a year
5 Sep 2018 - by
Travellers in Birmingham can expect delays and congestion as a main tram route in the city closes for about a year, according to the BBC.
The Midland Metro tramline is being extended to Broad Street, and Centenary Square, with the city council saying is set to open in late 2019. As a result, the Paradise Circus line will be closed in both directions.
The project is one of several in Birmingham, with others including work needed ahead of the High Speed 2 railway that will see a new Curzon Street Station built, as well as projects for cycle routes on the A34 and A38 into the city centre.
Travellers are advised to allow for extra time for all journeys.
