CWT launches T&E analytics tool

Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) has launched an analytics tool that captures an organisation’s travel and expense spend. CWT has confirmed that the tool will be available in South Africa.

The CWT Travel Consolidator is a web-based platform and combines air, hotel, and ground transport transactions that are booked through a TMC with credit card, expense, and HR data. According to a statement released by CWT, the tool helps to show what it calls the ‘hidden costs’ of business travel and off-channel expenditure. Having access to this information can help travel managers identify where savings were missed, improve traveller compliance, and increase an organisation’s negotiating power with suppliers.

“Gathering, matching and reconciling travel and expense data is challenging and it’s often hard to get the full picture of the total cost of a trip,” said Christophe Renard, vice president, CWT Solutions Group. “CWT Travel Consolidator gives you that visibility – and can save up to 7% on travel costs.”

The tool’s data algorithms consolidate, standardise and clean the data, meaning that travel managers don’t have to spend as much time fixing inaccuracies. The tool provides the data on a single platform, with configurable dashboards and reporting capabilities.

All card, travel, and expense data will be integrated in one place, providing managers with information on spending outside official channels, such as flights and hotels booked on personal cards, or other costs like airline seat selection charges, meals, laundry, and incidentals. CWT Travel Consolidator shows these costs, and attaches them to the traveller who incurred them. The costs can then be cut, reported, and analysed by trip, cost centre, organisational structure, route, supplier, and more.
