Could Amazon Alexa solve your travel programme dilemma?

US-based corporate travel analytics and data reporting company, Prime Numbers Technology (PNT), will launch a new Amazon Alexa skill in August aimed at travel managers.

PNT will première the new Alexa skill at the GBTA Convention in San Diego between August 11 and 15, where it will demonstrate its functionality. Mark Bresnahan, vice president and gm of Prime Numbers Technology, told Travel & Meetings Buyer that the functionality had two key focuses.

The first will be available to travel managers internationally from August, and allows them to query PNT’s Industry Statistics benchmark database. This means that managers can ask Alexa questions about industry averages and trends for air, car, and hotel, broken down either by period, destination, vendor, or more.

The second focus is the ability to ask Alexa specifics about one’s travel programme, and request content delivered to one’s inbox. This can be combined with Insights, PNT’s account review tool, which will see Alexa provide account reviews using current data into a manager’s inbox, on demand. Users will also be able to ask Alexa for recommendations on opportunities for savings. There are plans in plans to include predictive capabilities that will analyse industry trends and forecast how they may impact travel programmes and budget in the future. This functionality will only be available to PNT Prime products users.

Bresnahan said a Beta version of the Alexa skill would be launched internationally in August, with a more versatile version planned after PNT gathered feedback from users.
