Another hotel group cuts commissions

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) will cut commissions from 10 to seven percent on group and meetings bookings, bringing it in line with Marriott International and Hilton, who have also adopted similar models recently.

The cut would become effective from January 1, 2019, and apply to sales commissions paid to global group travel partners on bookings at all IHG hotels in the US and Canada, confirmed Derek DeCross, svp, global sales, InterContinental Hotels Group. “This move allows us to balance the needs of our guests and owners by reinvesting the savings into programmes and improvements that will benefit the guest experience.”

Contracts signed prior to January 1 will remain eligible for the 10% commission, while commissions for IHG hotels outside Canada and the United States, including those in Puerto Rico, will remain unchanged.
