Australia: Storm to cause travel disruptions
13 Mar 2018 - by
A tropical storm currently developing near Queensland and New South Wales may cause some travel delays midweek, according to AccuWeather.
Upon reaching tropical cyclone status with sustained winds of at least 63km/h, Tropical Cyclone Linda will track near the coast of southeast Queensland and northeast New South Wales from tomorrow into Thursday.
Impacts are expected despite current forecasts predicting that the storm will remain offshore,
With winds likely to sweep across coastal areas from Hervey Bay to Brisbane, Gold Coast, and Port Macquarie.
Flooding is unlikely, however local downpours are expected to cause travel disruptions.
The storm will begin to weaken on Friday and move away from the coast, allowing conditions to improve with little or no rainfall and reduced winds.
