Kenya Airways launches flights to Mauritius

Kenya Airways has launched flights to Mauritius, which will operate four times a week from June. Monday and Thursday flights will depart Nairobi at 11h45, and on Wednesdays and Saturdays the flight will depart at 21h00.

Kenya Airways has an existing codeshare agreement with Air Mauritius for three weekly flights from Mauritius to Nairobi. With the new service, both airlines can offer a daily service on the route.

“We are very excited by this new opening, which will allow daily connections between two of the most attractive countries in the region,” said Kenya Airways Group md and ceo, Sebastian Mikosz. “The direct flight will enable reliable and convenient connectivity and, in doing so, make Mauritius more accessible to our guests in their bid for economic exchange.”

The route will be operated by an Embraer E190 with 12 seats in business class and 84 in economy.

In other news, the airline has added three more weekly flights on its Johannesburg route, reinstating early morning flights on certain days, from June 6.

Flights will operate on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Flight KQ766 will depart Nairobi at 01h20 and arrive in Johannesburg at 04h30. Flight KG767 will depart Johannesburg at 05h30 and arrive back in Nairobi at 10h35.

At the same time, Kenya Airways will launch its new direct service to Cape Town, which will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flight KQ784 will depart Nairobi at 15h35 and arrive in Cape Town at 20h30. Flight KQ785 will depart Cape Town at 22h15 and arrive in Nairobi at 05h00 the following day.
