Nepal: Elections to disrupt travel

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office says the second phase of federal parliament and provincial assembly elections will take place in Nepal on December 7 and, as a result, road travel will be disrupted.

Passengers arriving at Tribhuvan Airport will be transported to the city centre on buses provided by the Nepal Tourist Organisation.

Some border crossings with India will be closed until December 8.

Large rallies and protests may take place. These often turn violent and travellers are advised to avoid all demonstrations.
