South Africa: Kruger Park issues malaria warning

Recent heavy rains have increased the risk of malaria in the Kruger National Park this year, News24 says.

Usually classified as a low-risk area, the park is now advising visitors to take the necessary precautionary measures against the disease as it is experiencing an increase in malaria cases, especially in the northern region.

In March, Limpopo also issued an advisory for travellers to take the necessary precautions to avoid contracting the disease, which can be fatal is not treated correctly.

Precautionary measures include the use of prophylaxis and vaccinations.
